About Our Rootstown Drug Rehab Programs

If you’re like many people, the first thing you might think of when you hear the words “drug and alcohol rehab” is an overnight facility with beds, regimented medication schedules, and restrictions on communication with the outside world. While that does describe many inpatient facilities, Ray Recovery’s Rootstown drug rehab services are outpatient-based.

Outpatient care simply refers to medical treatment that takes place outside of a hospital or other facility that has the capability to provide 24/7 care. It’s much the same as visiting a doctor for the flu or going to weekly counseling. Different outpatient levels of care exist, though, for varying client needs.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program is the most time-intensive level of outpatient care. The weekly time commitment for clients is usually 25 hours or more (but rarely more than 30 hours). Despite its name, you don’t have to go to an actual hospital to participate in a PHP; our Rootstown-area drug rehab facility houses all therapies delivered by our staff.

Many of our PHP clients have arrived at our center after going through detoxification or otherwise participating in an inpatient program. Once they are ready to begin receiving targeted therapies and going home at the end of each day, our PHP is available as a natural step down.

While you’re here, though, expect a highly structured therapy schedule. We want to maximize the time you spend at Ray Recovery, so we’re prepared to deliver numerous types of one-on-one therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and, if need be, medication-assisted therapy (MAT) with Vivitrol and other safe prescription drugs.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The outpatient level of care directly below PHP is intensive outpatient. IOP clients usually spend nine to 12 hours receiving therapy, and it can often be broken up into alternating weekdays—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, for example. We also offer group therapy for IOP clients in the afternoons and evenings, which often works better for people with full-time or equivalent-to-full-time jobs.

If you want even more flexibility with your IOP journey at Ray Recovery, our virtual IOP may be a great option. We’ve noticed that telehealth has allowed a greater number of clients to access our substance use disorder treatment, including those with mobility challenges and a lack of reliable transportation options. Our facility is already in a discreet location, but participating from the comfort of your own home or office may be optimal.

Therapies Used at Our Rootstown-Area Drug Rehab Facility

Substance use disorder is an incredibly complex lifelong medical condition. It can be quite difficult to achieve sustained recovery without receiving several types of therapy. At the same time, simply trying different therapies without giving them a chance to work can feel like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. We use evidence-based therapies but only after conducting thorough client assessments and, with the help of each client, coming up with a targeted treatment plan.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

One of the most popular types of therapy used for clients experiencing substance use disorder is ACT. This type aims to help clients recognize their thoughts and emotions in neutral ways instead of trying to control them or immediately push them away. By viewing them as a neutral observer, clients can begin to understand that their thoughts and emotions don’t have to define them. This can then pave the way for actions that align with their values.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a tried-and-true type of talk therapy widely used for substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions. During one-on-one CBT sessions, you will learn to identify cognitive distortions, which are untrue and unhelpful thought patterns that may lead to substance use. Through practice, you can stop these thought patterns before they lead to harmful actions. Doing so can lead to improved interpersonal relationships, better social skills, and enhanced coping mechanisms.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)

Motivation doesn’t just spring up out of nowhere, and it doesn’t last forever. At the same time, making substantial changes in your life can be challenging without proper motivation. To help bridge that gap for clients wanting to achieve long-term sobriety, our staff deploys MET. MET helps clients explore their deepest, most sincere reasons for combating substance use disorder and develop an actionable plan to use those reasons in a positive way.

Holistic Therapy

The old ways of simply treating symptoms of substance use disorder and mental health conditions are now generally regarded as incomplete. The health of your brain largely depends on your overall health, which is why it’s important for the entire client to be treated. During holistic therapy at Ray Recovery, clients get exposed to mindfulness practices, creative arts therapy, nutritional counseling, and massage therapy.

Trauma Therapy

The root of many clients’ substance use disorder is unresolved trauma. Trauma can have cascading effects on people’s lives, such as avoidance of certain people and places and a limited ability to connect with loved ones. Therapy can tackle trauma symptoms in a variety of ways, and it often takes several different interventions to achieve maximum results.

Group Therapy

Clients in treatment for substance use disorder have much to gain from their peers’ insights. The journey to recovery can be isolating, and the camaraderie of group therapy can do wonders for clients’ self-esteem. Ray Recovery strives to create spaces where clients can be vulnerable and learn from each other while developing social skills.

Family Therapy

The bonds and conflicts you have with family members can deeply affect your behaviors surrounding substance use disorder. Nothing happens in a vacuum, and the tenor of your familial relationships can help you maintain sobriety and recovery. Our counselors can help you and your family address unhelpful dynamics while imparting ways to strengthen the love that’s already there.

Dual-Diagnosis Treatment at Ray Recovery

In addition to drug and alcohol rehab services, Ray Recovery is also a trustworthy source for mental health treatment in the form of dual-diagnosis care. Clients who receive this treatment will get the opportunity to explore and address both mental health and substance use disorders as well as the ways in which they interact. This treatment approach allows clients to get to the heart of unhealthy behaviors and discover what steps they may need to take to achieve a full, happy, and healthy lifestyle.
