So, what should you know about getting addiction treatment for Veterans at Ray Recovery?
This page will go over treatment considerations for Veterans and why Ray Recovery is best equipped to address them. Then, we’ll discuss VA insurance coverage at Ray Recovery, what to expect in our programs, and a little bit about why clients choose us for their addiction treatment needs.
Ray Recovery Addresses Concerns Specific to Veterans
Veterans are at an increased risk of alcohol and drug abuse compared to the general population. Common treatment considerations among Veterans include but aren’t limited to combat-related trauma and the period of readjustment that comes after returning to civilian life. Our Veteran’s addiction treatment offerings cater to your unique needs as a Veteran and empower you to build a sustainable, sober life that you love. Here are some of the ways Ray Recovery can help you heal as a Veteran looking for addiction treatment in Ohio.
The Role of Trauma Therapy
Many Veterans experience lasting effects of trauma. Treating co-occurring trauma and addiction through a combination of suitable therapies is integral for those who have been through traumatic events. Ray Recovery offers trauma therapy to individuals in our Veteran’s addiction treatment program. Treatments offered in our programs include but aren’t limited to the following.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)/Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
- Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy
- Medication Management
- Contingency Management
- Peer Support
Ray Recovery’s staff members are trauma-informed and equipped to address co-occurring substance abuse and trauma in Veterans. Aromatherapy, yoga, mindfulness, and other services or treatments are also available to clients who find them helpful.
Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions
In addition to general trauma and trauma disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Veterans may be at a higher risk of some other mental health and related concerns that impact their relationship with addiction. For example, mood disorders like depression. Ray Recovery offers comprehensive dual diagnosis treatment for anyone in our programs facing addiction and one or more co-occurring mental disorders.
Health Insurance Coverage for Veterans
Ray Recovery accepts most forms of insurance. VA health insurance plans can help you cover the cost of Veterans’ addiction treatment in Ohio at Ray Recovery. You can verify your insurance benefits for treatment at Ray Recovery online through our website or by calling our admissions line. If you have your insurance card or information (e.g., your member ID number) handy, the insurance verification process should take just a few minutes.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs at Ray Recovery
Ray Recovery offers fully outpatient Veterans’ addiction treatment in Ohio. We have daytime and evening therapy schedules so that you can get treatment that fits your day-to-day life. Before you start treatment at Ray Recovery, our licensed therapists will give you a clinical assessment. Then, we will help you choose a starting level of care. With the knowledge that you will get a custom treatment schedule based on your intake assessment, here’s a general idea of what you can expect in our care levels and programs.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides treatment with the intensity of an inpatient rehab program and the freedom of outpatient care. Clients in our partial hospitalization program in Ohio meet about five days per week and engage in therapy for about five hours per day on treatment days, for a total of about 25 treatment hours per week. Groups are held on all treatment days, and you’ll meet with an individual therapist weekly or bi-weekly alongside other services. PHP can be a suitable alternative to inpatient treatment for clients with a supportive living environment who are able to manage symptoms outside of treatment hours.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Ray Recovery is less intensive than PHP. However, it still provides a higher level of support than traditional outpatient therapy. Clients in our Ohio intensive outpatient program meet about 2-3 days per week and engage in about three hours of therapy on treatment days, for a total of 9+ treatment hours per week. IOP provides more time for external commitments like work or school than PHP, making addiction treatment plausible for suitable clients who aren’t able to take time off. Some people start with IOP, whereas others transition into the program after PHP when they’re ready for a lower level of care.
Alumni Support & Relapse Prevention Program
Ray Recovery has a generous alumni program that helps you stay connected to the support system you built at our center after treatment is over. Our alumni program provides access to counseling sessions, seminars, workshops, and access to an online forum so that you can keep getting support from our community after treatment. Before you graduate from your program at Ray Recovery, we’ll also help you make an individualized aftercare and relapse prevention plan to set you up for ongoing success.
